The buzz around Chatham Park just got a little more magical.

After nearly 18 months of anticipation, construction has officially begun on Asteria, the highly awaited Storyliving by Disney community coming to Chatham Park in Pittsboro, North Carolina. This marks a major milestone for the Triangle’s real estate scene—and puts Chatham County on the national map once again.

According to a recent report by the Triangle Business Journal, land clearing is now underway, with crews making way for “Asteria Boulevard,” the main entrance to the future neighborhood. The project is being developed in partnership with DMB Development out of Arizona and Preston Development, the local team behind the overall Chatham Park master-planned community.

A New Kind of Living Experience in Chatham Park

The first phase of Asteria has received a unanimous recommendation for preliminary plat approval from the Pittsboro Planning Board, with a final vote by the Board of Commissioners expected this month. This early section includes 494 homes, and if all goes according to plan, sales will begin in 2027, with pricing starting in the mid six figures.

Once complete, Asteria will span 1,500 acres and offer more than 4,000 homes, including a mix of multifamily, single-family, townhomes, duplexes, and quadplexes. Plans also call for an age-restricted section for 55+ residents.

And while Disney has yet to release specifics about amenities, a 25-acre tract has already been earmarked for a future amenity site. The remaining land from a recent $23.3 million land acquisition—which totaled 242 acres along the Haw River—will be divided among open space, roads, and utilities.

What This Means for Chatham Real Estate

The addition of a Disney-branded residential community in Pittsboro is a rare and significant event. With Chatham Park already positioned as one of the Triangle’s fastest-growing areas, the arrival of Storyliving by Disney reinforces the region’s appeal to out-of-state buyers, investors, and families seeking something unique.

For those watching the Chatham County market closely, this development is sure to shape demand and home values in the years to come.

We’re keeping a close eye on Asteria and how it will shape the future of living in Chatham Park. Want to know what this means for your current or future home search? We’d love to talk.
